"Intensity of signal" refers to the intensity of the sound source that is either presented or observed within the environment. The intensity of sound can range from (1) very soft to (5) extremely loud.

When measuring the intensity of the signal, the sound level meter should be close to the child's head. If the sound level meter is read from across the room, the strength of the sound may be quite different at the child's location. Record the numerical code for the range of the intensity on the form.
