The majority of the inventory should be observed rather than administrated.

Responses to auditory stimuli that naturally occur in the environment should be observed and recorded on the FHI protocol. Sounds do not necessarily need to be presented artificially in a "testing" situation.

If the evaluator does need to present sounds, the evaluator should select sound stimuli that the student is familiar with instead of choosing sounds with which he/she has no experience.
