Level 6: Comprehension
Comprehension as it is used in the FHI refers to: responses by students when the sound source was spoken language, and understanding is demonstrated by the student, OR the student provided a language-based answer to a non-language sound source.
Some examples of these types of comprehension are:

- Mother says "What do you want?" and the child lifts her arms to be picked up.
- Dog barks and child says or signs "dog" or the dog's name.
- Teacher says "Lift your hands" and the child lifts his hands.
- The buzzer on a microwave rings and the child signs or says "eat" or "pizza"
- Mother says "Show me the cat" and the child points to the cat.
- Dad says "What does a duck say?" and the child says "Quack Quack".
